A visiting weekend.

Mummy and Alice had a busy weekend of visiting and visitors. It started on Friday afternoon when one of Alice's Godmothers popped in, as she was in the area (Laura the English can pop from time to time). Alice had fun showing Louise her books and toys and singing her favourite song, "row, row, row your boat". I didn't realise until I started going to toddler groups that there are about 20 verses to the song!!! Anyway, it was a very busy weekend for Stuart at work and thankfully Louise did call in, because she stayed for dinner and then kept me entertained while he spent most of the evening on the phone to work.

Saturday. Stuart was at work, we had a couple of offers to go visiting with friends. We did a lot of deliberating, but Druridge Bay didn't work out with Mr and Mrs D, doglet and the boys. So went round to the McKelveys in the afternoon. Alice seemed very taken with their new bunny rabbit and enjoyed drawing a lot.

Sunday. Stuart managed to get out of working. However, was on the phone quite a lot to work throughout the day. We did have some very special visitors on Sunday. Alice's great aunt Betty and great uncle Brian. They were on holiday in Scotland for the week and did a few days at the end in our area, so they could meet Alice and then travel back home to Essex. It was great to see them and Alice really enjoyed showing them her toys too. Brian said he really wanted to see Alice and sit her on his knee and that's what he did. Thank you for calling in and for Jess, she is Alice's new favourite toy.

Hi Pauline

Glad to hear that the english can pop from time to time. It makes life that little bit more interesting!!

Looks like you had a busy weekend - but it´s always nice to visit people and to have people over.
The photos are really good, it looks really cosy, Alice sitting with her great aunt and uncle. She looks right at home with them, even though she doesnt see them that often.

Hey remember that cake I was raving on about - the one I got at the christening/blessing, well I got the receipe for it. I will have to translate it soon and get it on my blog so you real bakers can try it out. It was to die for! So light and fluffy and the filling - wow - heavenly!! I also want to try it but i have to buy smaller cake tins.(need to wait to the end of the month - money is running low!! haha roll on pay day!)

Hi Laura, she seemed to really enjoy sitting on their knees showing them her toys. 6 months ago she would've screamed the place down if we'd tried to put her on someone's knee. We just leave her until she's ready to go up to them, which seems to work for her.

Can't wait for the cake recipe and I'm assuming our Home Group will feel the same way. I didn't bake for them that much last year, no time and I really missed it. Am enjoying baking a bit more for them now though.

Roll on the end of the month!!!

I must admit I'm surprised to hear that some English people do just pop in. In Scotland they don't - at least not normally, and I really miss it. Very few of my friends just pop in here, and when they do it drives David nuts! That would never happen in Iran.

The other day we were at our minister's house for dinner, and he was tellin us about when he worked up in the islands as an insurance sales man. Nobody knocked doors, or made appointments to see people, they all just walked in. He did. And there was the women ready to literally step into the bath, in the clothes that God gave her!!!!!!! He said "I'll just get the envelope from the drawer, and be on my way" !!!!!!!!

Rhoda, that story is hilarious.

Not many people do just pop in. Lorraine and I use to pop every Sunday night after church. Generally round to Geoff and Russ's for tea and biscuits and listen to them argue like a married couple. Happy days. On one occasion we decided to pop in on nearly everyone who lived near our church and see how many people were in. I can't remember how many we counted in the end.

People should pop more often.

What a hilarious story Rhoda!! hahaha

Pauline I also use to pop with Lorriane - but I think we did it on a Tuesday night. We would see how many people we could visit in a couple of hours - it always included a trip by Russ,Geof and Graeme.....I cant remember how many we could fit in - maybe Lorraine remembers that. Popping must be the culture of norn iron. Happy days they were.

Laura, I agree that popping must be the culture in N.I. I think Tuesday night was about the only night I had in, watching Quantum Leap. When did I ever find time to do essays and homework etc?

I know where I found the time for essays and homework - on the bus to school or in History I would work on Commerce homework and I never did my French so I was always in detention on a Friday at lunchtime.
I could kick my self now for not paying attention and giving myself 100 percent - but try telling that to a teenager who just wants to have fun!

Laura, the one with the polished halo, I am shocked at you for being in detention. Shame on you.
