Jumping, Gardening and Slippers

Alice and mummy go to a Bible study group once a fortnight on a Thursday. Last week was the first one back after the summer, so they had a social instead of a study. Alice stays in a creche whilst the mothers go up stairs to study the Bible. As it was finishing one of the children who is a bit older than Alice was jumping all over the place and Alice was trying to copy her. Then on Sunday after church she was trying to do some more jumping, the first bit of the video is Alice trying to jump. She can't get both feet off the ground at once, so ends up more like stamping. We think it's hilarious.

On Saturday we went to a garden centre and bought a pile of bulbs for the garden. So whilst Alice was asleep on Sunday afternoon we planted most of them, bar one section. When Alice woke up we got her changed and went into the garden to introduce her to gardening. She threw in all the bulbs (only trying to eat one of them) and then we covered it with soil. She then didn't want to come back in so stayed outside with daddy to "garden" some more. She seemed to really enjoy herself and so hopefully in years to come we can get her doing all the gardening, for a small fee, no doubt.

She also found a new game; jumping on daddy to be a lot of fun. She did this for ages. Then got bored with that and started walking in Daddy's slippers instead.

We just can't believe how much she is taking in on a daily basis. She can count to 2, well we say one and she says 2. She can recognise the letters A and B on her wee alphabet frame. In fact daddy stepped up the counting training when he saw that she could recognise the letters A and B. Daddy is determined she will be a mathematician and Mummy is determined she will be really literary, hence reads Shakespeare to her every day (that's a joke I don't really).

Also really glad that the baking demonstration inspired a few of you to bake again. Glad also that they have worked for you and you are enjoying your creations.

Yes, in a couple of weeks. Have fun when it happens. Not sure when they can actually jump with both feet off the ground though. She is trying her best to run, but again it's the both feet off the ground thing.

Loved the update Pauline, keep them coming.

Just wait until Alice can get out of bed herself & decides to jump on Daddy's head at 4 in the morning! We'll see how hilarious it is then!

And that lasts a LONG time. Enjoy this time Pauline - it's over so quickly. People used to tell me that all the time. I was so tired all the time mind you with 3 under 3 and a half for a few months!

The pictures are great. Keep them coming!

Hi Pauline

Alice is a wee dote! My Leia just started walking last Tuesday and hasn’t stopped! She loves climbing up me, her daddy, the stairs, the TV!! Of course as soon as I get the camcorder out she stops doing whatever she’s doing immediately!

She's changing so quickly and looks more like a toddler now rather than my wee wonderful babby!

Ah, we have very high door handles, and plan to keep our door firmly shut. I don't intend to stand for her waking us up at 4 in the morning, one thing I'm not prepared to put up with given my fatigue illness.

Yep, people tell you that they don't stay babies all that long either. I'm so glad that stage didn't last long, though, can't say I enjoyed the wee baby days that much. She's much more fun now that we can actually chat to her and play with her.

Good to hear from you both again. Look forward to more updates from your end of the world soon.

Hiya Ruth, great to hear from you. You've been very quiet recently. Which isn't like you at all. I think that's it actually, as soon as they start walking they're not babies any more and look like wee people. When are you starting your blog up then? Would love to see some pics of your Leia. How old is she now? Is she about 14 months?

Alice has started wanting to go up the stairs properly now. When she's standing at the bottom of the stairs she holds her hands out for me to hold them and then walks up the stairs!!!

Hi Pauline

I love her laugh!! It´s something special when they take a real hardy laugh...

Really cute pictures of you out in the garden doing a bit of gardening. Keep them coming.

Lisa, thanks. She has been putting his slippers, my shoes etc on for a few weeks now, but hasn't been able to walk in them until this week. So you can expect Tom to be doing it in a couple of weeks.

Laura, thanks. We think her laugh is really funny too. She's always trying to make us laugh, we wonder if she's going to end up on the stage.

It's lovely seeing the video and pictures of Alice - bet when you look back even a few months you'll see just much she is developing all the time.
You want her to get into English, and Stuart wants her in maths - she probably choose art or music!

Pauline you wont believe this but Tom tried to put my slippers on tonight when we were upstairs getting ready for his bath! He tried to put his own socks back on too. Isnt it amazing how they all do the same things?!

Lisa that is so funny. I reckon he gets up in the night and goes on our blog to see what he should be doing next.

Rhoda, you're completely right, it is great to look back and see how much she's changing. We reckon she might end up on the stage as a comedian; she loves to make us laugh.
