Can you guess what it is yet?

Can you guess what Alice is trying to do and successfully achieving in these photographs?

Yep, a few days ago she started taking off her babygrows after breakfast. Last night she took it off when she went to bed, then woke at 8.30pm completely out of her babygrow. Given we're going into the winter that's not really something we want her to get used to. So today we went out and bought some (non-pink, or at least as non-pink as I could find in her size) pyjamas. So from now on she won't ever wear babygrows again. We were hoping to get to 2 wearing them at night, but she's obviously decided she doesn't want to wear them any more.

So here she is in her first pair of pyjamas, or "mamas" as she calls them. Unfortunately the battery on the camera went, so this was all we could catch before bed time. They are wee bit big on her, but we are hoping to get the whole winter out of these. This was part of a set of two pairs from Boots. So we'll have to try and find her another pair of non-pink pjs too.

You've got yourself one independent wee lassie there Pauline, you will never have any doubts what she actually wants! Reminds me of my nephew, his nursery report said "William has great confidence in his ability to do anything"

Here's a thought for you - from a non-mummy! I read the redemption series of books last year - by karen kingsbury. One of the things she talked about was keeping a record of not only the first time your child does things, but the last time, coz in many ways these are the marks of development and maturing too. She talked about the last time the child collected flowers for her etc.

Indeed, Rhoda, we do have an independent child, she certainly does let us know what she likes and dislikes, what she wants to do and doesn't want to do etc...

I like the thought of recording the last things they do. However, I'm not even recording her mile stones. I am keeping a record of her words though. We reckon she has well over 100 now and is able to use them all in context.

Ah...what a wee cutie! Tom has been wearing pyjamas for about 4 months now (since he started walking) as he was slipping on the floor in the closed-in feet.

It does make them seem a lot less like babies and more like wee people. I guess they're far from being babies any more. Apparently officially, an infant is 0-12 months. Today was Alice's last day in baby creche at church and so next week she moves up to toddler creche. Today she was the oldest and next week she'll be the youngest.

But she wont be the youngest for long though, wasnt there a lot of people in your church who all had babies around the same time?

Yeah, you're right. There's another batch on the way too. Loads of people are due in October/November and then there are the people who are just announcing their pregnancies too for around March. So the baby creche is quite glad that they're losing some, because they'll be gaining a lot over the next couple of months.

PS forgot to say we still call Tom 'wee baby Tom Tom'. They will always be our babies!

I think there is definately a bit of pink in those pyjamas :-)

I remember when Megan was about 2 or 3 she just would not wear any trousers with even the smallest bit of pattern on them. Now the next time your in a childrens clothes shop try finding plain girls trousers believe me not easy. She is still the same now and as for skirts and dresses well forget it.

Lisa, I'm just so glad she's not a baby any more. Stuart's forever, saying things like, "she doesn't look like my baby any more" and I say "thank goodness".

Lyn, really great to hear from you. Indeed, not buying anything with a pattern on it must've been incredibly difficult. Everything's got to have a picture of something on it. Of course there's pink on her PJs, the ones I wanted (white with blue flowers) weren't in her size. Typical. I needed to buy something there and then to make sure she was wearing something at bed time. I don't think I wore a skirt for about 4 years as a teenager and then just decided I wanted to wear again when I was about 19. As for dresses, I haven't worn one since I was about 12.
