Sleeping Bunnies
This is Alice's finished Advent Calendar. As you can see there's a bit of a crowd congregating on the right. We did the calendar after dinner each night and since it's been put away she's wanted to pray for it before bed time a few times.
We went to the park at the bottom of our street last Sunday (4th) and it was freeeeeeezing!!! We went just as it was getting dark (after Alice's nap), but we didn't stay long. We came back home again for hot drinks and sitting under the blanket watching In the Night Garden.
Alice got this farm for Christmas from her Nana and Grandpa. She is really starting to enjoy playing with it, I just don't think she knows what to do with it. So all the animals end up inside it along with the farmer and his wife, who we have yet to name.
Most afternoons Alice and I have to have a bit of a singing session. Generally many verses of sleeping bunnies and dingle dangle scarecrow. Then maybe wind the bobbin up, twinkle twinkle little start, the bear went over the mountain, my God is so big and more recently jingle bells. In fact a few nights ago I heard her in bed (through the monitor and whilst she was winding down to sleep) singing jingle bells. "jinga bays, jinga bays... away" then followed by a wee giggle. So yesterday (Saturday) Stuart had to join in too with Alice, doing the actions. No doubt as you watch there will be lots of "ahhhing" and "ooohhhing".

Loved the video - although I must say Pauline, I thought as Alice went over to Stuart she was going to kick him!!! But then she woke him so gently. What a kind child:-)
Ahhh, very cute! I thought she was going to kick Stuart in the head though! Pauline you are so brave to put at video of yourself singing on the internet! Braver than me!
Lisa sometimes this gets scary how often we think the same thing!!!!!!
I also thought Pauline was very brave singing on the internet - and then I thought it wasn't that brave, for she can sing:-)!
I do keep trying to encourage Alice to jump on Stuart when he's lying on the floor, but she goes over and lies down beside him. Will have to keep working on that one.
Lisa and all the more brave given I have laryngeal palsy as a result of the nerve leading to the muscle which moves one of my vocal cords was cut whilst having my thyroid removed. Thought I would never sing again. I went through a year of speech therapy after that. It is much better than it was, but I do have a lot of limitations on my voice now. However, I didn't have a choice about the thyroid being removed, the surgeon did tell me time and again I might not have any voice at all. So I am very grateful for what I do have.
By the by, I think Rhoda and I were typing our messages at the same time.
she is so cute - I loved her saying "Up Daddy!!" and your singing was beautiful Pauline!
Well Pauline you can sing better than me and Ive all my vocal bits intact!
Laura and Lisa, you are both too kind!!!
what about me Pauline am I not too kind too?!:-)
Course you are Rhoda, having a bad week trying to work out who is who on all these blogs eh?!!! I guess I assumed you hadn't read my post.
Pauline we are on again at the same time! Never assume that I haven't read your post - unless I'm dead!!!! (I said that to David once, if there is ever a day that I don't check my email, you will know that I am REALLY ill - and that was before blogs:-)!!!)
You'll see I was probably the very first to read your blog, certainly the first to comment indeed so sad is my life at the minute, that I'm probably sitting waiting for your posts!!!!!!!! (all of you) But tonight I added a wee bit more variety into my life - I ironed - now that really is a change!
Oh and I forgot to say I did some Farsi!
I know what you mean Rhoda - it´s 2.25am here!! I woke up needing a wee and now that I have relied myself I just needed to check the blogs before going into bed again - how addictive is that!! I need professional help!!
Just watched the video again - it is so cute. Her and her daddy - aaahhhhhh. This video clip is somthing precious to have when she gets older.
Rhoda, wow ironing, how exciting!!! What a life you lead!! I think you and Laura need some serious help. Maybe one day you should not check the blogs and see how you feel by the end of the day. I can feel the stress welling up in you already as you read. Maybe to start small try to go 2 hours when you get home from work without checking the blogs. Go on, you can do it, not saying break the habit altogether, just maybe not spend so much time on the computer.
It is a cute video isn't it Laura? Glad you're enjoying it.
The most awful thing has happened - an absolute disaster!!! We've had our work internet restricted, you can no longer go on blog sites or facebook!!!!! This means I have to go until tea time to check the blogs!!! Can I go to the union about this? Or the court of human rights maybe?? Let me know asap please, Im in an awful state!!!
Lisa, I'll get Stuart straight on to it. Orrrr, maybe you could join Laura and Rhoda in trying to wean yourself off a bit. Gently, gently though.
Pauline, I'll follow your example!!!!
Actually be impressed - it's 8.00 and this is the first time I've been on here since I came home from work - 4 hours ago!!!!! Mind you I've been brain training, maths training, sight training, health coach training - anything to slow down the senior moments:-)
And now I'm away to get my 1/2 hour Farsi fix . . .
Lisa that is terrible - I would do all I could to fight that - take it to the high court...or whatever it is you do over there!!
Believe me I know what you are going through. It is really hard not being able to check the blogs throughout the day...I cant!! Sometimes I find myself just day dreaming about a computer and just iching to get on to see if any blogs are updated. Then I cant think of anything else and simply cant wait to get home to turn on the computer...its very sad!! I really need a life - we should start Internet Annoymous..(IA)or (BA)Blog Annoymous
And there's me girls, with full access all day long and I choose not to (well most of the day anyway). When I go onto the blogs if Alice is around she's started saying "e-mail", so I think I need to cut down my usage.
Well done Rhoda, for lasting so long, do you think you could go longer tomorrow?!!
Lisa, just thinking the positive side of it is, look how much you will have to look forward to it, when you do get back on!
I'll try really hard Pauline! I did well tonight . . . until I went unto Facebook, chatted to a friend from France, then Lisa and Lorraine were on - and I just had to do without my Farsi fix - never mind there is always tomorrow night:-)
Lisa, got another solution! Get yourself an iphone, find wifi access - that is not password protected(!) and on you go:-)
Tut, tut, tut Lisa!!!!
Well done Rhoda, keep up the good work, you will get there eventually.
Rhoda, Im way ahead of you!!! I have an iPod touch (same as an iphone without the actual phone part), as well as being an ipod it has the same web & email features of an iphone, but there is no wifi i can get onto at my work, our internet is all hard wired (and no one nearby has unprotected wifi)!
Lisa why am I not surprised that you already have it???????!!!!
You're some girl - I thought I was the gadget queen, but I think I might have to hand that crown over to you:-) LOL
Ah well it does just mean you will be really enjoy the blogs & email when you get to them:-)
well I am lost with all this techno chit chat girls!!! between all your wifi???? and iphone?? and bbc iplayer thing???? I think I should have been born 100 years ago - I probably would have fitted into that period much better!!!
Ah ha girls, I am waaaaayyyyy ahead of all of you, I have a Stuart!!!!
Pauline, you think Stuarts bad, Ronnie's hectic! Gadgets for everything all over the place! Even his gadgets have gadgets! He will also sit on the net for hours reading about the latest stuff and their spec, for example computer monitors - whats the best contrast ratio, IPS, TN film, MVA, SVA........he could talk for hours!!! I get blinded with science constantly! Ive learnt to perfect the "I look interested" look when Im actually thinking about something totally different!
I know exactly what you mean, Stuart starts talking about stuff that might come out in the future and I think how does he know that. Then he tells me all about his podcasts and I have to tell him to stop, because I'm just not that interested. I know, I know, not very wifely of me, but there is a limit to boring drivel I can listen to. I know what you're thinking, "that's rich coming from me", at least my stories are vaguely interesting.
In who's opinion Pauline??? LOL ONLY KIDDING! I just couldn't resist it:-) Sorry you set yourself up for that one!
Well obviously in mine!!! I think I'm the most fascinating person in the world and if everyone were more like me, what a wonderful world it would be. Oooo, I feel a song coming on.
Podcasts...........................................................................................................................................................oh sorry, fell asleep there!!! I must admit I too say Ive no interest when he starts going on about stuff! Not very wifey of me either! One time he was talking about something & realising I wasnt listening, he slipped something totally irrelevant into the middle of a sentence & I didnt even notice!
Good on ya Lisa!!! I'm very impressed indeed.
David thinks I don't listen to him, and actually he's right but - he gets dead frustrated with me when he says "you're not listening to me" and I say "I am so, you said . . ." and give it back to him verbatim! I've not idea how I learned to do that - but it was certainly useful in school . . . and now in marriage!
I actually seem to remember having an argument with quite a few different people in our church minibus when I was about 13!!! I seem to remember Colin Booth being the main person I was having an argument with. Everyone on the bus was incredibly impressed I could listen to everyone else and then answer them too and keep it going for the whole bus ride back to church. I'm soooo talented you know.
You two, is it talent or noseyness???? Pauline when in the minibus were you afraid of missing something?? ha ha lol!
Lisa, I fear you misunderstand, I was having the argument with all those people I was able to listen to. I am soo proud, thinking back. Yeah right!!!!
Honestly the stuff we got up to as teenagers. Children today just don't have that kind of freedom any more.
Most children these days cant have fun unless theres a computer or games console involved!
I know what you mean. I went on to ToysRus website earlier (a certain person's birthday coming up soon) and clicked on ideas for 2-3 year old. A WII console came up in their list!!!!!!!! How utterly stupid.
Thats ridiculous! When I didnt know what to get Tom for christmas, I took him to ELC & smyths and let him play with everything. An unorthodox way of doing it I know but it worked. Some things I thought he would like never got a look in and others he didnt want to put down, so those I bought. Granted it was around Oct time & he was only 17 months so didnt understand what I was doing, but it worked well because he loves everything he got.
Lisa, that's a really good idea, because then at least you're not wasting money on stuff they're never going to use or play with. However, when you've a birthday in March, you're trying to think ahead to what she will want to play with by the summer until next Christmas, when she'll nearly be three!!!
