Once the butter was melted, Alice stirred the sugar and eggs together.
She was also very good at putting the muffin cases into the muffin tin. I showed her how to do the first one, the next one she pushed down too hard and squashed it quite a bit. Then after that she just gently placed them into the available spaces.
Mummy put them in the oven and when they were ready Alice took Mummy's hand and sat on my knee whilst we watched Daddy take them out of the very hot oven. She really enjoyed baking the muffins and she enjoyed eating one after dinner too. Then I just put them into freezer bags and freeze them. When she's having one I get it out of the freezer and defrost in the microwave. They are a firm favourite in our house. I think Daddy quite enjoyed it too.

What a clever girl - a baking statistician!!!
Is that Stuart or Alice?
Both!!!!
Looks like she is following in her mums footsteps! Well done Alice (and off course Stuart!)
Lisa, well at least she is learning skills from us both.
Laura, Stuart did a bit of baking over the weekend under my very close supervision and did a very good job of it too. A very yummy carrot cake was enjoyed at our new God-daughter's post-Christening get together.
I really must make those muffins - they look great!
Alice will never remember learning to bake - it's something she will just always 'know' - which is absolutely great, the way to do it. Also what brilliant memories for her to remember baking with 'Daddy & Mummy'.
We have just finished running a parenting class, and one of the things we were talking about was the importance of having good memories.
Aw thanks Rhoda. I have always looked forward to baking with her. Which makes me wonder about the kitchenaid, I won't be teaching her any baking skills if I use it. Dilemmas, dilemmas!!!
Dilemma - what dilemma? You teach her to bake using the kitchenaid:-) She will still need to learn how to 'fold in flour' (gently - won't she Laura!) And no doubt there will still be times when good old fashioned by hand is the most fun:-)
I agree with Rhoda it will be second nature to her. The girls helped me in the kitchen this afternoon to get tomorrow's dinner ready! And I didn't even ask for help. Grace just took over scraping the carrots & parsnips. Beth got the chocolate ready to melt for the dessert and then bashed the digestives to a pulp. And they provided the entertainment too by singing all the carols they're learning for their Carol Service - it was lovely!
Charlene, sounds like family bliss. Such a shame you didn't catch it on video, it would've been beautiful to watch. I can't wait until Alice does stuff like that and we can go and watch her in her Christmas Carol Service etc.
Pauline, I'm going to rap your knuckles! LOL Don't be wishing time away - it goes quickly enough as it is, and you've such a short time with Alice at this stage - enjoy it!!!! Too soon she'll be a teenager, and not wanting to do things with her parents!
Listen to Rhoda Pauline - she is soooo right, believe me before long they are teenagers and they dont want to been seen doing too much with their parents - even if the parents feel young and hip!! haha in your kids eyes your old!! hahaha
