We had a really great walk in Plessey Woods on Sunday afternoon, which is nearish us. I love this time of year when it starts to get colder and you get all hopped up (as we say in Northern Ireland) in your coat, gloves, scarf and hat. We've only been once before about 4 years ago and yesterday we were reminded how much we liked it then.

Alice really enjoyed standing on this bridge looking at the river (dauter, as calls water). We then introduced her to Pooh sticks. Stuart and I got a stick each, he was helping Alice. He gave his to Alice, stood at the edge of the bridge and started to explain the rules. When he said "you throw your stick in the river", she did. So she had a good 5 second head start on my stick. Cheating already. That's just not on and she won!!!!
She had a lot of fun crunching on the leaves, unfortunately we can't get welly boots small enough for her yet, so she had to make do with her shoes and Daddy carrying her over the muddy bits. She also has a thing about collecting stones. Not sure where that comes from, but she carried one round in her hand the whole time.

Isn't it great that there is a break from the rain sometimes!
Alice is quite vocal Pauline - so like her Mother!
Glad you all enjoyed your day out. I enjoyed watching Alice!
Wow - isnt it amazing the difference a year makes! Great when they are aware of their surroundings and can take part in stuff instead of just sitting in the pram. Now I just have to try to get Ronnie to go somewhere! He used to do rock and mountain climbing (used to be very active, he's done a few marathons) but now he would'nt walk the length of himself!! He's been meaning to take Connor up the Mournes for about 4 years now but he's still waiting! He did start talking about it again recently so we'll see........
It actually doesn't rain that much in the North East, it has generally rained out by the time it gets across the Pennines. I absolutely don't know what you mean about Alice being vocal. Not too sure where the squealing came from.
I was just thinking the other day about how much development there was in the first 9 months compared to the second 9 months. It's just amazing to watch her become a real wee person.
Get that Ronnie off his lazy backside and take Connor up the Mournes. Kathleen Spence has been promising she'll take Stuart up the Mournes for the past 9 years. Shame on you Kathleen for not taking him yet. What you could do is get Connor to tell Ronnie that's what he wants for his birthday next year, to spend the day with Ronnie up the Mournes. A bit of emotional blackmail goes a long. Not that I would know of course.
I love it too Pauline. When the weather gets colder and the nights and mornings are darker. Like this morning - it was 8am before it started to get light....love it.
Really good video clip of Alice. She really is her own wee person, isnt it fun just watching them develope....Lisa you will have to post some video of Tom - would love to see him too.
Glad you had a good walk Pauline - nothing better than getting out into the country/forest and enjoying the nature.
I too love getting all hopped up and out for a walk - at least when it's cold rather than wet. Unfortunately the West of Scotland gets just as much rain as Norn Iron - maybe more, as it seems to pick it up - with interest - as it comes over the Irish Sea.
Lisa when you find out how to get Ronnie off his backside, will you let me know? Or if I find the secret first I'll let you know! Every day I faithfully say to David "Would you like to come out for a walk?" Normally the answer is "no" usually some excuse is attached, "I'm cooking" "It's too cold" "It's too windy" etc
Ronnie says why go out for a walk when you can surf on the net, eat chocolate & drink coffee!!!
Thanks Laura, I think Plessey Woods could be a Shaw's Bridge alternative.
Rhoda, Stuart is a statistician and found some stats on the amount it rained in the west compared to the east. A friend was moving to south west and the difference was actually staggering.
Lisa, there are days when it is certainly better to drink hot chocolate an stay in, not when it's snowing though. That is my all time favourite time to go for a walk. Just doesn't happen all that often here.
i have hisbough park and lake right on my doorstep its lovely at this time of year. pauline take as many photos as you can cos when no 2 comes along its a different story.
Ive loads of everything with rebecca some of Olivia and very little of lois but im not saying go on p have another lol
Julie great to hear from you and glad you're back on line again.
We're taking loads of pics and vids of Alice because she is our only. There are sooo many great reasons for us not to have any more it would be unwise for us to do. We are very blessed to have Alice and so thankful that God healed me to the point where I could have her. She is our wee miracle!!!!
Love the pics and video Pauline. Alice is lovely. Julie is right about having less and less pictures of the next children. I think I've one or two of Livvy!!
It's lovely to see the kids all bundled up for autumn. What size are Alice's feet? I have size 4 and 5 wellies if you want me to post them over.
Thanks Lorraine, will e-mail you about that.
I know, I love it when it gets darker and colder.
